Fall and winter always reintroduce so many recipes that I put in the back of my mind for the summer months.  Most particularly, hot appetizers.  So often, for parties and get-togethers, hot appetizers become my dinner.  Growing up, this was tradition on Christmas Eve, which I always loved and still carry on today!

While I didn’t make it growing up, in the last few years, baked brie has easily become one of my favorite, go-to appetizer recipes!  It’s so delicious, nutty, warm, buttery…need I go on?!  I serve it up with sliced and toasted French bread.  The warm cheese against the crunchy crostini is a match made in heaven.  Really, I could probably make it for myself and still eat the whole thing for dinner.  No shame here!

  • Brie baker or small baking dish such as a pie plate
  • Knife

  • 8 oz. wheel of brie cheese
  • 1/2 c. peach preserves
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
  • Sliced and toasted French bread (I throw mine in the oven on 350 degrees for about 10 minutes)

Operating Procedures:

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.  Open the brie wheel from the packaging.  Leaving the white rind on, slice the brie in half lengthwise, leave you two circles.

Place one wheel in the baking dish with the rind on the bottom and cut side up. Top with 1/4 c. of peach preserves and 1/4 c. of chopped walnuts.

Then, place the remaining brie on top of this layer, again, with the rind down so that the sliced side of the brie is on top.  Top with remaining preserves and walnuts.

Pop into the oven for 25-30 minutes until hot and melted.  Serve it up with the French bread on the side and a cheese spreader.

To kick it up a notch, add one sliced jalapeno to the layers before baking!

Closing Remarks:

With 5 minutes of prep and 25 minutes of baking, you can’t go wrong with this 3 ingredient baked brie.  I know this will become one of your favorite appetizers this holiday season!
