As you know, our family loves to pick our own berries.  July’s in season berry is of course blueberries.  Our favorite local farm for pick-your-own blueberries is Frog Eye Blueberry Farm in Knoxville, MD.  After our first visit last year, our family couldn’t wait to get there again this blueberry season.  Literally, we heard Preston talk about the blueberry farm for the past 12 months!  This year’s pickings left us with 3 pounds of blueberries, which has us including them in every meal.  I even recently subbed them for the chocolate chips in the recent pancake posting I did.  For the more savory side, though, this vinaigrette has great flavor and whips up quickly in the blender. 




  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • ~6 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

 Operating Procedures:

Add all ingredients to the blender and puree. 


Drizzle this dressing over spinach salad with grilled chicken, sliced red onions, feta cheese, and walnuts.


Closing Remarks:

This dressing is a great accent to a light summer dinner salad.  Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container.  Let me know how you like it!
