A few weeks ago, we had a welcome party at work for all the newbies that started within the last 2 months or so. This was the perfect opportunity for me to try this new recipe – Caramelized Onion Dip!
This dip starts with a base of caramelized onions, which I recommend making overnight in the slow cooker. Instructions on this can be found at here at the Kitchn Blog! I like to add a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar in the last stage of cooking, while the onions are vented. Of course, if preferred or in a rush, you can certainly cook those onions down via stovetop.
- Large bowl
- 1 c. prepared caramelized onions – made in the crockpot as suggested above, or stovetop, from about 3 large, peeled sweet onions.
- 1 c. mayonnaise
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1 t. garlic powder
- 1 t. salt
- Fresh cracked pepper to taste
- Dash or two of ground cayenne pepper, to taste
Mix up all ingredients and let sit overnight! It’s that simple. Fancy dip bowl, optional.
This dip is a crowd pleaser and since it makes about 3 cups of dip, it easily serves a crowd!
