Introduction:

My sister-in-law Lisa and I put these simple grilled steak kabobs together on Mother’s Day then my hubby grilled them.  They were simple and delicious. This same method could be used with any protein and veggies.

Resources:

  • Metal or wood kabob sticks
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
Procurements:
  • 3 lbs. sirloin steak, trimmed of fat and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 olive oil
  • 1/4 chopped herbs of choice
  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 t. season salt
  • 1/2 t. pepper
  • 1 pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 red peppers, seeded and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 red onion, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
Operating Procedures:

Begin by soaking wooden kabob sticks in water for a minimum of 30 minutes so they don’t burn on the grill.

Chopping up any variety of herbs you have, such as parsley, rosemary, and thyme.  Add 3 cloves of chopped garlic and mix in olive oil.  Set aside.

Trim fat from sirloin steak and cut into 1-inch chunks.  Season with season salt and pepper and add in garlic-herb oil.  Put into food storage bag to marinate for 1-2 hours.

When ready to assemble, heat grill to medium-high heat.  Thread vegetables and steak onto kabob sticks, leaving a small amount of space between each so they cook evenly.

Grill over medium-high heat for 3 minutes per side for medium rare.  If you like it medium, then cook 4 minutes per side and on up from there.

Serve hot or at room temperature.

Proposals:

Change up the herbs and proteins for countless versions of these kabobs.  This just happens to by our favorite.  You can also make entire kabobs of meat and veggies separate, that way people can take just what they like, but mixed kabobs are very pretty!
