Introduction:

I love peach season.  We have a small peach tree in our yard that is about 5 years old.  I believe we planted it right around the time that Preston was born.  Unfortunately, right now those peaches are only slightly bigger than golf balls.  While our tree never gets very large peaches on it, every year it gets bigger and bigger, and produces more and more peaches.  In about another month, I think we’ll be eating them up!

Last peach season, I shared my Stone Fruit Crisp recipe with you, in which I used our home grown peaches.  This year, I’m hoping to have enough peaches to get a crisp, as well as a pitcher of this Peach Pie Sangria.  Since my peaches aren’t yet at their prime, I used frozen peaches when I took a pitcher of this to a BBQ for the 4th of July.  It was just as tasty!

Resources:

Procurements:

  • 1 liter of white wine – I used Pinot Grigio, nothing expensive or fancy
  • 1 liter seltzer water, more or less to taste
  • 2 9.6 fl. oz. cans of peach nectar, such as Goya brand
  • 1 c. vanilla vodka
  • 1 16 oz. bag of frozen peaches, or 2-3 fresh peaches cut into pieces
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Sugar to taste, if needed.  I used about a tablespoon.

Operating Procedures:

With the exception of the seltzer water, add remaining ingredients to a large pitcher and gently stir to combine.  Allow the sangria to chill in the fridge for about 4-8 hours so that the flavors meld.  About an hour before serving, add the seltzer water.  I used a whole liter but add to taste as you may prefer less.

Closing Remarks:

This recipe makes a large pitcher of Peach Pie Sangria.  You could easily cut it in half if you don’t need quite as much of it!  But really, when it comes to a pitcher of sangria, the bigger, the better.  🙂
